Clyde - James Vincent Distasio, Sr., age 84, of 52 Honeysuckle Street died Monday, August 29, 2005 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Wallingford, CT and was the son of the late Peter and Filemonea Distasio. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his eldest son, James Vincent Distasio, Jr. He was employed with the Allegheny Ludnum Corporation for 37 years where he worked in shipping and receiving. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and a member of New Covenant Church. He was an avid woodworker and had a passion for his yard. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jacqueline Distasio; a daughter, Joyce Banks and her husband, James of Clyde; two sons, William Distasio and his wife, Gail of Meriden, CT and Keith Distasio and his wife, Kim of Watertown, ME; one brother, Joseph Distasio of West Haven, CT; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. A memorial service well be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2005 at New Covenant Church with the Reverend Frank Harvey and Reverend Nick Honercamp officiating. Visitation will follow at the family's residence, 52 Honeysuckle Street. Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 56 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
