James Ethron Evans Maggie Valley-James Ethron Evans, 81 of Fie Top Road died Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at the Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Jim and Ina Hunter Evans and was also preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, one daughter, one grandson and one great granddaughter. He had retired from Dayco Corporation in 1980 with 34 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Maggie Valley where he served as a deacon for over 35 years. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Florence Sutton Evans, two daughters, Mildred Evans Rich and her husband Clyde W. of Maggie Valley and Norma Jean Evans Bryant of Waynesville, two granddaughters, Donna Rich of Apex, NC and Florence Jeanne Hoglan of Waynesville, two grandsons James Rufus Rhinehart of Waynesville and Michael E. Rich of Maggie Valley, five great grandchildren, Autumn Blake Rich, Jonathan Blake Rhinehart, Alecia Brooke Rhinehart, Tiffany Nicole Hoglan and Madelyn Grace Rich. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24th in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services with the Reverends Jerry Nelson, Paul Carmichael and Chuck Sojack officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Clinton, Todd and Tyler Trantham, Chris Shuler, Olin Watkins, Jim Killian, Bill Bradley and James Rhinehart. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of First Baptist Church of Maggie Valley. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times will be at the residence. Memorials should be made to the organizations that are helping the Haywood County Flood Victims.
