James Fie

Waynesville, James L. Fie, age 90, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Robert and Hazel Henry Fie and was also preceded in death by a brother, Herman Fie. James was a retired sergeant of the US Marine Corp, having served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He also retired from the US Postal Service where he worked as a rural route mail carrier and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Waynesville. James enjoyed traveling in the US and visiting national parks and wintering in Florida. James is survived by his wife of 67 years, Anne Farmer Fie; a son, Randy Fie and his wife, Lillie, of Clyde; one granddaughter, Taylor Fie; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank James' caregiver, Patricia Burchfield. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with Reverend Wilson Strickhausen officiating.
