Canton- James Herman Ford died Thursday, November 3, 2005 at Autumn Care of Waynesville following a brief illness. He was the son of the late John P. and Cora Crigger Ford and was also preceded in death by a sister. Mr. Ford was a farmer who came to live on the Hascue and Lois Kinsland farm and remained there until his death. Herman enjoyed hunting, gardening and spending his time outdoors on the farm. He was a member of Longs United Methodist Church and the Men's Sunday School Class. Herman especially enjoyed the fellowship at the church. He is survived by Carroll and Maxine Kinsland, Joseph, Sabrina, Luke and Lyndsey Kinsland; several cousins and a special care giver, Mildred Pressley and her husband Kenneth all of Canton. Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2005 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Brad Holliman officiating. Burial will follow in Longs Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Pall bearers will be Larry Clark, Charlie Evans, Tom Frudd, Frank Ford, Richard Lee, Tom Ensley, Everett Shepard, Terry Mashburn, Steve and Mike Evans. Honorary pallbearers will be Boyd Medford, Neal Duckworth and Jim Autrey. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Longs United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1097 Coffee Branch Road, Canton, NC 28716.
