James Francis

Waynesville, James Wallace "Jimmy" Francis, age 97, of Oleander Drive, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Mission Hospital. A native of Trigg County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late James Thomas and Nellie Wallace Francis. He was a US Army veteran and received two Purple Hearts and Bronze Star during World War II. Jimmy enjoyed visiting various flea markets and also enjoyed feeding his favorite pets, the squirrels. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ruth Francis; son, James W. Francis, Jr. and his wife, Lois, of Jasper, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Betty Queen, of Candler and Ruby Shoemaker and her husband, Harold, of Asheville; and a brother, Roy H. Francis, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Couser and Pastor Tim Sheridan officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
