James Gary

Waynesville, James Frederick Gary, 86, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at his summer residence in Haywood County A native of Columbus, Ohio and resident of Melbourne, Florida, he was the son of the late George and Maude Helen Kennedy Gary. He was predeceased by a son, David Gary as well as four brothers and four sisters. He served in the US Army as a paratrooper. For 40 years he worked as a logistics specialist and for the last 25 years at the Harris Corporation. Jim loved his visits with family and friends, especially his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed woodworking, reading and watching television. Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lillian Gary; a son, Michael L. Gary (Mary Beth) of Brooksville, Florida; a sister, Sue Borg (Allan) of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren, Lisa Marie Frazier, Christine Roman, Daniel Gary and John Martz; five great-grandchildren, Emily and Olivia Roman, Allison Frazier and Lillian and Marvin Gary; as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. A special "Thanks" to the staff of Haywood Regional Medical Hospice for their excellent care of Jim.
