James Grasty

Clyde, James Thomas "Jim" Grasty, 94, of Grasty Road, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Hobert and Maggie Messer Grasty and was also preceded in death by three sisters, Martha Boring and infants, Margaret and Blanche Grasty. Jim helped his mother raise the family and enjoyed his life as a farmer. He also loved to spend time socializing with friends and was a member of Elizabeth Chapel United Methodist Church. James is survived by two brothers, Fred Grasty (June) of Clyde and Billy Grasty (JoAnn) of Richmond, Virginia; five sisters, Frances Clark of the Crabtree community, Effie Donaldson (Wayne) of Waynesville, Sarah Ledford, Hilda Russell and Mary Jo Grasty, all of Canton; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Shuford and Reverend Carrol Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until service time at the funeral home.
