James Green

Waynesville, James Harrison Green, age 88, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2014. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late William Claude and Pearl James Green. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Lena Gunter Green, who passed away in 2008; a granddaughter, Michele Clayton Hall; sisters Ethel Green, Betty Wyatt, and Mae Howell; and brothers, Troy, Roy, and Riley Green. Harrison retired from the Town of Waynesville and was a member of Hyatt Creek Baptist Church. Harrison is survived by daughters Carolyn Clayton and Juanita Garrett (Gerald); a son, Wayne Green (Jane); sisters, Katherine Mintz and Jincie Lee; five grandchildren, Tammy Hays, Travis and Tiffany Green, Cynthia Knight, and Bryan Garrett; great-grandchildren, Josh Green, Madelyn and Garrett Knight; and special nephews, Kenneth and Danny Lee Green. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Coates officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Travis, Kenneth and Danny Lee Green, Bryan Garrett, Rocky Lee and Phil Messer. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
