James Hall, Jr.

June 28, 1911 — February 14, 2013

Maggie Valley, James R. Hall, Jr., age 101, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at the Homestead. A native of Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Randolph and Sarah Nelson Hall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Ida Belle Hall, who died in 2010; two sons, William and Wayne Hall; and a great-grandson, Josh; three sisters; and two brothers. James was an electrician and a member of First Baptist Church of Maggie Valley and a former Sunday-School teacher at Victory Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and the outdoors. He is survived by two daughters, Sarah H. Bryant and Barbara Tyson, of Maggie Valley; six grandchildren, Ricky Hall (Vicki) of the Bethel Community, Pamela Turner (Randy) of Waynesville, James E. Hall (Kelli) and Kevin Bryant (Lynn) all of Maggie Valley, Randee Jones (Rusty) and Wendy Lohse, all of Hallsville, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 18, 2013 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Ricky Mason and Reverend Jerry Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to MedWest Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
