Canton - James Bradwin Hargrove of the Bethel Community died October 3, 2005 at St. Joseph Hospital. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the son of the late William Harvey and Dora Warren Hargrove. He was preceded in death by a son, James "Jimmy" Harvey Hargrove; a great grandchild, Kirsten Mathews and a sister, Mary Lou Matteson. Mr. Hargrove was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and was a United States Army Veteran serving during World War II in Pearl Harbor during the invasion. He also retired from Dayco International and had a lifelong love of farming. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruby Payne Hargrove; four daughters, Patsy Miller and her husband Jimmy, Avis Hargrove, Joyce Hargrove and Kathy Cogburn and her husband Barry all of Bethel; one son, Gordon Hargrove and his wife Katie of Bethel; one sister, Betty Sue Harvey and her husband Don of Cleveland, TN; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2005 at Riverside Baptist Church with the Reverend Mike Odom and Reverend Jerry Ensley officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 prior to the service at the church. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Main Street, Waynesville, NC 28786. Wells Funeral Homes of Canton will be in charge of the arrangements.
