Waynesville—James David "J.D." Heinz, Sr., age 73, died Friday, January 18, 2008 at his residence. He was a native of Macon County and grew up in Haywood County. He was the son of the late Evelyn Wilson Houser. J.D's life included a career in hairstyling, photography and later, automobile sales and management, retiring in 1996. He was a former member of the Kiwanis and Elks Clubs. J.D. enjoyed boating with his family and gardening throughout his life. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Libby Heinz; three daughters, Kathy Jean Callihan and her husband, Benny, of Clarkton, Belinda Kay Lattimer and her husband, Joe, of Winston-Salem, Lynn Stockett and her husband, Tom, of Knoxville, TN; a son, Jason David Heinz and his wife, Teresa, of Waynesville; five grandchildren, Patrick Callihan, Megan Barbero, Jordan Stockett, Jackson Heinz and Jones Heinz. Funeral services will be held at Garrett-Hillcrest Mausoleum Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2008 with Reverend John H. Swanger, III officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Ryan, Artie Childs, Joe Lattimer, Benny Callihan, Terry Rathbone and Tom Stockett.
