James Kay, Sr.

Canton- James Edward Kay, Sr. of 17 Crest Hill Road died Saturday, September 9, 2006 at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a son of the late James and Pauline Wines Kay. He was employed by Blue Ridge Paper Company for the past 26 years. James was a United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the VFW Post 5198 and American Legion Post 47. He is survived by one son, James Kay, Jr. of Canton; two sisters, Rose Sheppard and her husband, Mack, of Canton and Tammy Little and her husband, Randy, of Pennsylvania; one brother, Danny Kay, Sr. and his wife, Vicky, of Candler and one granddaughter, Katherine Kay. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 11, 2006 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Ensley officiating. Burial will follow in Old Thickety Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Brandie Revis, Leslie, Brittney and Danny Kay, Jr., Anthony and Shannon Sheppard. At other times, the family will be at the home of Danny Kay, Sr., 6 Wild Rose Lane, Candler, NC.
