Maggie Valley, James Wesley Killian, age 72, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Maggie Valley Nursing Home and Rehabilitation. A native of Sevier County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late John Wesley Killian and Ruby Lee Turner. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Killian and one infant son, Michael Killian. Jim was known to friends and family as "Papa Smurf" lived life by his terms. He worked for many years on off-shore drilling rigs in Louisiana. Later in life enjoyed trout fishing, sitting in the sunshine and cheering his favorite NASCAR driver, Mark Martin. James is survived by his life companion, Alice Mooney, of Maggie Valley; three sisters, Peggy Hannah, and her husband, Robert, Terry Webb, and her husband, Sam, all of Waynesville, Tammy Sales, of McCormick, South Carolina; one sister in law, Doris Hilliard, of Maggie Valley; one brother, Carroll Killian, of Greenwood, South Carolina; many nieces and nephews. A time to celebrate Jim's life will be held from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Maggie Valley Nursing Home.
