Clyde-James "Jim" Edward Moody, age 79, of the Crabtree Community, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 31, 2006 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Leslie Lafayette Moody and Myrtle Ashe Moody and was also preceded in death by a brother, Leslie Moody, Jr. Jim was a US Navy veteran and worked in the Shipping Department of Dayco Corporation until his retirement in 1986 with 38 years of service. He also farmed and was an active member of Crabtree United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty F. Moody; two daughters, Leslie Hagey and her husband, Phil, of Charlotte and Jamie Magalhaes and her husband, Joe, of Waynesville; three sisters, Hilda Leatherwood and her husband, Leonard, of Lake Junaluska, Joyce Raby and her husband, Bob, of Franklin, NC, and Mohela Medford and her husband, Asbury, of Charleston, SC; one brother, Kenneth Eugene Moody and his wife, Shelia, of Maine; two grandchildren, Warren Stevens and his wife, Stacey, of Chicago and Blake Magalhaes of Waynesville; two step-granddaughters, Jennifer Keene and Christy Kestner; and two step great-grandchildren, Harrison and Olivia Keene. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 4, 2006 at Crabtree United Methodist Church with Reverend Kathleen McAbee and Reverend W.T. Medlin officiating. Burial will follow at Dawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville, and at other times, the family will be at their home, 2356 Panther Creek Road, Clyde.
