Waynesville – James E. Murray, age 95, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at MedWest – Haywood. Jim was born in Washington, D.C. on March 16, 1919 and was the son of the late Ewing A. Murray and Daisy Hall Murray. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 ½ years, Sara Welch Murray and one brother, Thomas R. Murray. He received his education in Washington, D.C., New York City and completed it at Wilmington College, Ohio. He was employed by Kodak until entering military service in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942. Following discharge, he returned to Wright Patterson Air Base in Dayton, Ohio as Civilian Chief Microfilm Sub-Unit and became a member of American Legion Post 200. From 1950 to 1955 he was co-owner with his wife of the Waynesville Motor Court and board member of the Waynesville Chamber of Commerce. He joined Dayco Corp in 1955 and retired as department manager in 1987. He is survived by many loved nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Sanford Giles and Reverend Kathleen Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist in Waynesville, P.O.
