James Parker

Canton-James Way "Skip" Parker, age 54, of 326 Fairlane Road in Columbus, NC, died Sunday, April 03, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital. A native of Haywood County, he was Chief Credit Officer of Hometrust Bank in Asheville. He served as president of Tryon Federal Bank and was formerly employed by First Union Bank of North Carolina and Tennessee. He was an accomplished musician and world champion clogger. He is survived by his parents, McKinsey Wayne and Betty Sue Pressley Parker of Canton; his wife of seventeen years, Vicky Singleton Parker, of Columbus, NC; a daughter, Wendy Trull and her husband, Shane, of Waynesville; a son, Marcus Trull, and his wife, Kelley, of Wilmington, NC; a sister, Tammie Parker, of Canton; one granddaughter, Reagan Parker Trull, of Waynesville, NC; four nieces and nephews; and six great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 in the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services with Reverend Cliff Hannah and Reverend Tracy Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home, and at other times, at the home of his parents on Laura Drive.
