Waynesville, James Allen Pennyfeather, age 64, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at The Homestead. James was a native of St. Lawrence County, New York and had lived in Haywood County, since 2002. He was the son of the late Allen and Nettie Young Pennyfeather. He was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam Era. He was employed by Polaris of Waynesville and was a former mechanic at Ft. Drum, New York. James attended Hemphill Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, cooking and was an avid War history buff. James will be greatly missed and was a loving husband, father, and brother. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Judith Rhodarmer Pennyfeather; a daughter, Jessie Rennie (Mark) of New York; a son, JT Pennyfeather of New York; a stepson, Ernie Franklin (Trish) of Waynesville; two sisters, Judy Lopez (Steven) of Colorado and Jacque Young of New York; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jake Cagle officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with military rites conducted by VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post 47. Serving as pallbearers will be R.L. Franklin, Bill, Jimmy and Ricky Woody, Jesse Haddad, JT Pennyfeather and Mark Rennis. Honorary pallbearers will be Norris Smith, Matthew and Adam Gibson and Ethan Phillips. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
