James Rubenacker

Maggie Valley-James "Jim" William Rubenacker, age 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital. A native of Hamilton County, IL, he resided in the Chicago area and had lived in Haywood County for the past 20 years. He was the son of the late Andrew George and Christina Julia Kirsch Rubenacker and was also preceded in death by a brother, John Rubenacker. He was a US Army veteran and was employed by General Motors as a millwright for 32 years, retiring in 1987. He was an active member and Fourth Degree Sir Knight of the Knights of Columbus and an avid photographer who also enjoyed collecting antique clocks and going fishing. He was a member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Maggie Valley. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joan Rubenacker; two daughters, Donna Lynn Adams and her husband, Doug, of Waynesville and Karla Ann Floor and her husband, Tim, of Cave Creek, AZ; two sisters, Lorene Hutchcraft and Evelyn Loeffler, both of Ofallon, MO; two brothers, Norman Rubenacker and his wife, Linda, and Alfred Rubenacker and his wife, Bonnie, of McLeansboro, IL; and five grandsons, Karl, Kevin, and Kyle Adams and Brandon and Nicholas Floor. Funeral mass will be held at St. Margaret's Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2007 with Father John Denny officiating. Entombment will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum with military honors conducted by VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post 47. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Friday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be Knights of Columbus. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Margaret's Catholic Church, P.O. Box 1359, Maggie Valley, NC 28751.
