James Anthony "Tony" Scarboro, age 41, of Cherry Street, died on Monday, June 22, 2009 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native of Haywood County, he grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana and returned to Haywood County after serving in the US Air Force. He was the son of Carrie Louise Shelton Bennett and her husband, Don, and Jim Scarboro and his wife, Lynn, all of Waynesville. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Felda Scarboro; maternal grandparents, Paul and Beth Evans Shelton; an aunt, Nora Paulette Shelton; and mother-in-law, Carol Rapp. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Pamela Rapp Scarboro; a daughter, Devon Scarboro, of Statesville, NC; paternal grandmother, Betty Scarboro; one sister, Tara Gibson, and her husband, Kevin; and one brother, Eric Scarboro, all of Canton; two stepbrothers, Garron Bradish, of Clyde and Kevin Bradish of Asheville; father and mother-in-law, Jim and Alice Rapp and brother-in-law, Tim Rapp and his wife, Kim, all of Warren, PA; aunts, Carolyn Shelton Groom and her husband, Paul, Ruth Ann Trantham and her husband, Joe; an uncle, James F. King; nieces, Montana and Brooklyn Gibson; and cousins, Amy and Jordan Presnell, Elizabeth Bonham and Paula Russell. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Allens Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Eddie Deitz officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 12:00 Noon prior to services at the church. At other times, the family will also receive friends at the home of Louise and Don Bennett, 430 4th Street, Waynesville.
