James Shore

April 8, 1925 — May 24, 2005

Waynesville-James B. Shore, age 80, of Wildcat Mountain Road, died Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Shore; two sons, Steve Shore and his wife, Soozie, of Clinton, MS and Michael and his wife, Paula, of Louisville, CO; a daughter, Kay, of Greensboro, NC; three, granddaughters, Margaret, Ryan, and Chelsy; and a brother, Edgar, and his wife of Kernersville, NC. Jim was born and grew up in Kernersville, NC. He attended Massnutten Military Academy in Woodstock, VA and Renssalear Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY before entering the Navy in 1943. After his naval service he returned to Renssalear for a year and then transferred to Georgia Tech where he graduated as a mechanical engineer in 1950. He was a member of the ATO fraternity and several scholastic honorary societies. He was employed by Schumberger Well Services in Houston, TX for his entire professional career before retiring in 1986. Soon thereafter, he and his wife moved to Waynesville, NC. He was a member of Grace Church in the Mountains. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2005 at Grace Church in the Mountains with Reverend Dr. Howard W. White, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to HRMC Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
