Waynesville, James Richard "Coco" Snyder, 81, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 19, 2017.

A native of Haywood County he was the son of the late James Dewey and Martha Gertrude Parham Snyder. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Tolley Snyder; a daughter, Susan Snyder Sherman. James retired from Olin Matheson. He was a faithful member and deacon of Maggie Valley First Baptist Church. James was a Gideon member for many years.

James is survived by his wife of 19 years, Jeannette Smith Snyder; son Roger Snyder, and his wife, Gayle; son-in-law, Billy Sherman; grandson, Taylor Snyder, granddaughter, Ashley Ward, and her husband, Nick, granddaughters Sara and Anna Sherman; his sisters, Norma Messer and her husband, Robert and Doris Ann Messer, and her husband Gene; several nieces and nephews; a very special great nephew, Isaac Muri who called him "Coco".

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Maggie Valley First Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Mike Odom, Reverend Davis Plemmons, Reverend Mike Bennett and Reverend Jeff Moore officiating. A private entombment will follow the service. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be Taylor Snyder, Phil Messer, Donald Messer, Bobby Messer, Gene Hill, Jeff Reno, Joe Fowler and Wayne Burgess.
