"Loving Father"

Waynesville, James Walter Stanley, age 68, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the VA Medical Center in Asheville.

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Carl and Nellie Aldridge Stanley and was also preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Brown. Walter was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam Era and enjoyed fishing and watching NASCAR.

Walter is survived by a daughter, Carla Stanley Pressley, of Bethel; a sister, Linda Dailey (Barry), of Moyock, North Carolina two grandsons, Cayce and Carter Pressley; a niece, Kim Welch Huene (John) of Waynesville; and nephews, Scott Welch (Jennifer) of Waynesville and Stephen Daily (Tracie) of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Kenneth Rhinehart and Reverend Wayne Price officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:00 p.m. prior to services on Monday.
