James Summey

James "Jim" Evert Summey, age 66, of North Canton Road died Monday, May 22, 2006, at Haywood Regional Medical. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the son of the late Howard and Ella Grooms Summey. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Gene Summey and a sister, Ethel Stamey. He was employed with Haywood County Schools and was a member of Phillipsville Church of God. Jim was a sweet and caring man. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather. As a hobby, he raised and cared for miniature ponies. In addition to his wife of 45 years, Geneva Brown Summey, he is survived by two daughters Debbie Summey and Freida McCall both of Clyde; two sons, Ernest L. "Boney" Summey and his wife, Teresa, and Clayton Thomas Brown and his wife, Pennie, all of Canton; 11 grandchildren, Monica, Renee, Tasha, Sherry, Leeann, Tracie, Chasity, Tiffany, Anthony, Christina, and Autumn; and six great-grandchildren, James Tyler, Joshua, Chase, Blake, Scott, and Leigha. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 26, 2006, at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Calvin Brown, Reverend Bruce Cayton, and Reverend Ted Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Daniel Best, Bruce Edwards, Kevin Pressley, Johnny Brooks, Dusty Rudy, and Steve Burke. At other times, the family will be at 76 Wines Drive, Canton.
