James Tucker

June 1, 1938 — November 4, 2013

Waynesville, James Edward Tucker, 75, of the Jonathan Creek Community, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2013 at his home in the early morning hours. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Fred Laverne and Bessie Aletha Parton Tucker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, JoAnn Tucker. Edward was a simple man who enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, especially fishing. He will be remembered for having a great sense of humor, always enjoying a good joke and poking fun at his friends and family. Edward is survived by his companion, Bessie Mae Reinhardt; three daughters, Debra Tucker Shetley and her husband, Owen, of Waynesville, Kathy Tucker Burgess and her husband, Gene, of Cowpens, South Carolina and Tammy Tucker Stepp and her husband, Kevin, of Waynesville; a son, James Robert Tucker and his wife, Holly; grandchildren, Tucker Burgess and his wife, Jessica, Andrew, Stephen, Briana and Katelyn Burgess; Rebecca Kiefel and her husband, Seth, Jason and Lissa Tucker, all of Cowpens, South Carolina; Josh, Taylor, Jordan, Nicolas and Noah Stepp of Waynesville and a great-granddaughter, Aubree Kiefel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2013 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Burgess officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
