James Warren

"Loving Husband, Father, & Grandfather" Waynesville – James Earl Warren, 68, of the Bethel Community, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. James was born in Haywood County and was a son of the late James Robert and Edna Virginia Earley Warren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Marty Killian. At the age of sixteen, his family moved to Buncombe County where he was a 1967 graduate of Enka High School. James was a United States Army veteran having served during the Vietnam Era where he received the Purple Heart for his bravery. He and his wife, Joyce, continued to reside in Candler until 1991 when they made their home back in the Bethel community. James was a humble and very kind man. He was compassionate, thoughtful, and always willing to help others in need. His family was his life and he will be remembered for being a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. James was a dedicated member of Riverside Baptist and previously Bethel Baptist Church where he was extremely involved in all facets of church life. He lived his life according to his Christian faith and values by daily trusting in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joyce Bailey Warren; one daughter, Sandy Warren Killian of Canton; a son, Jeffrey James Warren and wife, Robyn, of Candler; four sisters, Vivian Bryson (Duane), Lillian Dellinger, Linda Revis, and Brenda Scott; two brothers, Dennis and Michael Warren; two grandchildren, Kristin Warren and Aaron Killian; father and mother-in-law, Everette and Viola Bailey; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Steve Frazier officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
