MAGGIE VALLEY - James Barnett Weeks, Sr., age 80, died Saturday, August 20, 2005 at his summer residence. He was a native of Winter Haven, FL and resided in Sarasota for more than 50 years. He was the son of the late Leroy and Emily Walker Weeks and was preceded in death by his two sisters Cleo Harmon and Eloise Hood. He attended the University of Miami and graduated from Florida Southern University. He was the owner of Weeks Oil Company in Sarasota, FL for 29 years and retired in 1992. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Winter Haven, FL and attended First Presbyterian Church of Waynesville. He was a member of the Sahib Shrine Temple in Sarasota, FL, Scottish Rite in Tampa, FL and a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He was a Lieutenant in the United States Navy having served in WWII. He is survived by, his wife Marile Kattner Weeks of 41 years; three sons, Charles R. McCord and his wife Donna, of Lawrenceville, GA, John B. McCord and his wife Pam, of Fort Worth, TX and James B. Weeks, Jr. and his wife Susan, of Tampa, FL; one brother, Ralph Walker Weeks and his wife Jeanine, of Lakeland, FL; three nieces, Vicki May and her husband Ron, of New Port Richey, FL, Patricia Harmon, of Winter Haven, FL and Christine Schroder, of Webster, FL; one nephew, Steven Weeks and his wife Debbie, of Haines City, FL; two grandchildren, Heather Varner and her husband Jason, of Aiken, SC and Megan Seda and her husband Alex, of Atlanta, GA; one great-grandson, Caiden Riley Seda and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Florida.
