James Woody

Canton-James Charles "J.C." Woody-63 died Thursday, December 26, 2002 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.

He was a native of Hartford County, TN but had lived most of his life in Haywood County. He was a son of the late Jimmy and Bertha Banks Woody. He was employed by Canton Ice and Fuel Co. and Plus Laundry and was a member of White Oak Baptist Church. Mr. Woody was an avid hunter and fisherman and an accomplished mechanic.

He is survived by one daughter and her fiancé, Nancy Woody O'Neil and Roger Williams of Canton, one grandson, Benjamin Williams, three brothers, Wils Woody and Crawford Woody both of White Oak and Rober Lee Woody of Bessemer City, NC, four sisters, Lottie Ensley of Sevierville, TN, Ottie Bell Hannah and Patricia Hannah both of Welcome, NC and Barbara Dene Hannah of Clyde, one step-brother, John Lewis Woody, two step-sisters, Art Messer and Carrine Woody, one niece, Barbara Rhinehart and several other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2002 at Liberty Baptist Church with Reverend Ted Reeves and Reverend Jerry Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Saturday at Wells Funeral Homes of Canton where the body will remain until 30 minutes prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at the residence of the daughter, Nancy O'Neil, 66 Wesley Street, Canton, NC 28716.
