James (Jim) Harkins

Canton – James “Jim” Edward Harkins, 73, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2020 at his residence.

Jim was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a son of the late Wayne Edward and Gladys Mildred West Harkins.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Mae Wright Harkins, who died in 2012.  Jim worked at American Enka / BASF Corporation for a number of years and was a United States Army veteran having served in Vietnam.

He is survived by one brother, Doug Harkins of Canton and an adopted grandson, Jesse Rhodes.

Considering the current public health situation, a private family service will be held.
