Clyde, Jane Maureen de Saulles, age 71, of Old Clyde Road died Monday, September 5, 2005 at her residence in the presence of family and friends. She was a native of Birmingham, England and resided in Tybee Island, GA before moving to Clyde and was the daughter of the late Frederick J. and Dorothy Anne de Saulles Heeley. She was also preceded in death by a son, Stuart H. Rogers. She was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church. Her working career began as a nurse in England; then upon moving to the United States in 1955, she worked in health care for a number of years. After obtaining her citizenship, she was one of the first female deputy's for the Haywood County Sheriff's Department. She served as an advocate coordinator for REACH for three counties. In later years, her interest in gardening lead her to obtain a degree in horticulture. She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth R. McCracken and her husband, Bill of Clyde; a son, Douglas M. Rogers of Clyde and their father Gene M. Rogers of Clyde; three brothers, Fred Heeley and his wife, Maureen of Shropshire, England, Harry Heeley and his wife, Jean of Watford England and Donald Heeley of Birmingham, England; three grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and very close friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2005 at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Home with The Reverend Tim McRee officiating. Burial will follow at Haynes Family Cemetery, Clyde. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 99 Academy Street, Canton, NC 28716; Haywood Regional Medical Center, Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721 or you may plant a tree in her memory.
