Canton – Janet Elizabeth Deaver Frady, 92, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022 at Autumn Care of Waynesville.
Janet was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a daughter of the late Charlie and Lola Singleton Deaver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude H. Frady; a daughter, Pam F. Lee; and six siblings. Janet was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Music was an important part of her life, playing the piano, singing with her family as well as the church choir. She taught Sunday school and was a volunteer with Haywood Christian Ministries.
She is survived by three daughters, Susan F. Griffin (Sheridan), Karen F. Gillett (Sherrill), and Claudia F. Holland, all of Canton; one son, Roger Keith Frady (Beverly) of Canton; two sisters, Norma Messer Caudle of Waynesville and Pat Chambers of Charlotte; nine grandchildren, Kristy Carlisle, Misty Newnam, Brandon Prestwood, Joshua Frady, Lori Long, Amanda Laws, Jacob Frady, Lindsey Buckner, and Sharon Webb; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2022 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Reverend Eddie Deitz and Reverend Jack Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:15 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 261 Dix Creek Road, Canton, NC 28716 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
