Lake Junaluska, Janet Roquemore Lilley, passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Four Seasons Hospice.
A native of Monroe County, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Joe Preston and Virginia Duke Roquemore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Van Roquemore. She was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, Georgia, where she met Loy and was married. Earlier in her career she was active in Early Childhood Education in which she taught for many years in Huntsville, Alabama and Chattanooga, Tennessee. Janet was an avid gardener, enjoyed bird watching, and reading to Senior’s at Silver Bluff Nursing Home, in which she was awarded Volunteer of the Year. Janet served on the board of Corneille Bryan Native Garden at Lake Junaluska. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesville and was active in the prayer shawl ministry.
Janet is survived by her husband, Loy Lilley; three sons, Joseph Lilley, Richard Lilley, and his wife, Elizabeth, and Christopher Lilley; special daughter-in-law, Donna Lilley; and four grandchildren, Emily, Joe, James and Hannah.
A private memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at First United Methodist Church of Waynesville with Reverend Keith Turman and Reverend Karen Greenwaldt officiating.

The care of Mrs. Lilley has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
