Janie Lee

Canton – Janie Ballew Lee, 85, of Howard’s Hollow Road, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at her home.

She was the daughter of the late Walter and Mamie Lee of Canton.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard who died in 2006; her daughter, Sandra, who died in 2004; her son, Kenneth, who died 2005; and two brothers, Perry R. Lee and Garland Lee.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and Mike Deaver of Canton; two sisters, Eunice Tingle of Canton and Linda Burrell of Candler; and a brother, Jerry Lee of Canton.  She had six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren plus one on the way; and a great-great granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Chaplain Patrick Davis officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.   A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2020 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Haywood Hospice, 43 Bowman Drive, Waynesville, NC   28785 or to Silver Bluff Rehabilitation Center, 100 Silver Bluff Drive, Canton, NC  28716.

Considering the current public health situation, social distancing will be observed and masks are recommended.
