Janis Mccarley

Wilmington-Janis Duckworth McCarley, of Wilmington, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2004 at her home. She was born in Canton, NC on December 19, 1943, the daughter of the late James T. and Hazel S. Duckworth. She was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed growing beautiful flowers and plants for her yard, and also raising and releasing Monarch butterflies in the fall of the year. Surviving is her husband of 39 years, Alexander Oldham McCarley, of the home; three sons, Alexander Oldham McCarley, Jr. of New Bern, James Duckworth McCarley and his wife, Rachel, and Daniel McEachern McCarley, all of Wilmington; a sister, Nancy Lee Tilley and her husband, Donald; and a niece, Donna Hales, all of Durham. A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, 2004 at Andrews Mortuary, Market Street Chapel with the Reverend John C. Drewry officiating. The family received friends from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the residence on Saturday, November 27, 2004.
