Jarvis Haney

February 27, 1926 — June 25, 2021

Clyde

Clyde - Jarvis Haney, 95, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021 at Haywood Regional Medical Center in the care of Haywood County Hospice and Palliative Care.

A native of Clyde, he was born on February 27, 1926 to Victry and Annie Haney.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, William Haney and Lewis King; his sister, Elsie Cooper; his stepdad, Lloyd King; and two grandchildren, Joshua Norris and Kristie Melton, who sadly, he never got to meet.

Jarvis proudly served his country in the United States Navy in World War II.  After having served in the Navy he became an aviator and loved to fly.  His aviation license is still in his wallet to this day.  He retired from Champion International Paper Company in 1987 after 33 years of service.

An avid deer hunter with his sons and grandsons, he also loved fishing and camping.  In his younger years he was very adept at fixing most anything and was indeed handy.  He always had a beautiful garden every summer and was very generous to most anyone with the bounty.

Jarvis is survived by his wife of 76 years, Lorene, and his five children, Mike Haney (Carolyn), Elaine Ruff (Robert), Vick Haney (Doris), Danny Haney (Jeannie) and Nancy Melton (Bill).  He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren, all of whom referred to him fondly as PaPaw.  He is also survived by his brother, Howard King, of Clyde.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 28, 2021 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Rhea officiating.  Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.  Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Brad Ruff, Bryan Ruff, Matthew Haney, AJ James, Travis Ruff and Glenn Bryant.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.

The family would like to thank Stephanie and the nurses of Hospice for the trusted care and guidance during this very difficult time.  We would also like to thank Lisa and Glenn Bryant for going above and beyond in his care.

The care of Mr. Haney has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes of Canton and an online memorial register is available at “Obituaries” at www.wellsfuneralhome.com
