Jarvis Messer

Jarvis Wayne Messer, age 52, died Sunday, April 6, 2008, at his residence. He lived in Candler most of his life and was the son of Rhoda Gates Burgess and the late Everett Messer. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wade Messer. Jarvis was a member of the Appalachian Mineral Society. He was loved and will be greatly missed by many. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Anita Chapman Messer; a son, Dakota Wayne Messer of the home; three sisters, Marguerite Woollen of Raleigh, Hazel "Susie" Messer and Sharon Messer both of Zebulon; two brothers, Charles Messer of Charlotte and Troy Messer of Candler; and numerous friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2008, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Greg Metcalf officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park in the Garden of Devotion section. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Troy Messer, Chris Hance, Charlie Hensley, Steven Woollen, Brandon Skidmore, and John Simpson.
