J.B. Jackson

Waynesville, J.B. Jackson, age 86, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Thomas Lee and Lavada Snyder Jackson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Kathryne Wells Jackson who died in 1998; a sister, Viola Jackson and a brother, Leonard Jackson. J.B. was a United States Navy veteran having served in World War II. He retired with 37 years in the shipping department from Dayco Corporation. J.B. enjoyed gardening and was a member of Calvary Road Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He is survived by a son, Jimmy Jackson and his wife, Andrea, of Canton and one grandson, Lt. Jonathan Jackson of the United States Air Force and his wife, Melissa, of Charleston, SC. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend J.D. Grant officiating. Burial will follow in Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park with Military Rites. Serving as pallbearers will be J.C. Ledford, Max Sutton, Gary Sorrells, Paul Arrington, Wayne Davis and Gene Arrington. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
