J. C. Mcelroy

J.C. McElroy, 95, of Asheville died Saturday January 9,2021 at The Laurels of Green Tree.

Mr. McElroy served in the United States Navy during World War II and retired after 25 years in the military.  He later worked for First Union National Bank of Asheville and Ingles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ethel Rodgers McElroy; his wife, Kathleen McElroy; six brothers; one sister and grandson, Jimmy Dockery.

Surviving are his daughter, Joretta Sutphin of Tennessee; a stepson, John Hart (Jerri) of Arden; special granddaughter, Sherri Mitchell; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a special friend, Stan Callahan.

A graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 15.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to God's Filling Station, P. O. Box 16183, Asheville, NC 28816.
