Jc Smith

Clyde, JC Smith, age 84, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022.

JC was a son of the late Oliver and Evie Smith; in addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Conner; and brothers, JB and JD Smith.  JC was a quiet, Christian man whose wisdom and common sense will be sincerely missed by those who knew and loved him.  After growing up in Waynesville in a close-knit and supportive family, he spent five years in the army.  Returning home, he married, graduated from Haywood Community College and enjoyed a successful career as a mechanical contractor.  During retirement, he enjoyed traveling throughout the states and many foreign countries, playing golf, watching sports, reading and spending time with his beloved family.

JC is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judy Sanderson Smith, of Clyde; son, Jay Andrew Smith; grandchildren, Jayden and Carden, of Charlotte; and siblings, Claude Smith, Bea Frady and Peggy Stiles, all of Haywood County.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 22, 2022, in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Josh Frazier officiating.  Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery in Hayesville.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woodland Baptist Church, General Fund, 545 Crabtree Road, Waynesville, NC 28785.

The care of Mr. Smith has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
