Jean Underwood

Jean Gaddis Underwood, age 67, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Fleshers Fairview Healthcare Center. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late William Alfred Gaddis and Lucy Suttles Gaddis Heatherly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Parker, who died in 1989. Jean retired as a CNA from Visiting Health Professionals in 2005. She was a member of Reed Memorial Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Donna Mae Deaton and her husband, Charlie, of Greensboro, and Cynthia Jean Underwood of Cornelius; two sons, Clifford D. Underwood and his wife, Pam, of Belmont, and Jerry Alfred Underwood and his wife, Machelle, of Bostic; a sister, Lorraine Poe and her husband, Bob, of Asheville; a brother, John Gaddis and his wife, Phyllis, of Bethel; eight grandchildren, Abbey Sloff, Daniel and Julia Underwood, Jeremy and Jordan Deaton, Loren and William Underwood, and Jacob Phillips; two nephews; and one great-niece. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Alan Davis officiating. Inurnment will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
