Jean Welch

Canton – Geneva "Jean" Lankford Welch, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late William Dewey and Dora Stamey Lankford. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel David Welch, who died in 1988; and two brothers, Wayne and Bill Lankford. Jean was a member of Canton Free Will Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Janice Meadows and her husband, Harold, of Canton; three sons, Steve Warner, Don Warner (Rita Cooper) of Canton, and Fred Warner and his wife, Rachel, of Nashville, Tennessee; a sister, Dot Mason of Canton; a sister-in-law, Elsie Lankford of Frost Proof, Florida; five grandchildren, Michael Kirby, Kristen Riddle (Nathan), Candice Mull (Michael), and Michelle Sawyer, and Chad Warner; and six great-grandchildren, Destin, Maggie, Warner, Houston, Collin, and Kendall. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at High Street Baptist Church with the Reverend Justin Best, Reverend Beauford Rice, and Reverend Tim Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Wells Funeral Home of Canton is in charge of arrangements.
