Clyde, Jeanette Jackson, age 82, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native of Swain County, she lived in Haywood County for most of her life and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Etta Vick Collins. Jeanette enjoyed camping with her family at Lake Chatuge where she liked to ride in the boat and fish. She also enjoyed gardening and listening to bluegrass gospel music. Jeanette thought of others before herself and was very community minded. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Clyde and was treasurer of the Bertha Fitzgerald Class. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ernest Jackson; three sons, Mike Jackson of Clyde, Charlie Jackson and his wife, Debbie, of Etowah, North Carolina and Ron Jackson and his wife, Trish of Houston, Texas.; one sister, Louise Fagan, of Clyde; one brother, Harold Collins, of Clyde; three grandchildren, Tara Smathers of Mars Hill, Eric Jackson of Austin, Texas, and Stephanie Spivey of Waco, Texas; eight great-grandchildren, Aaron and Ethan Smathers, Shannon, Sheridan, and Shelbi Spivey, and Cody, Brooks, and Bryce Jackson; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Clyde with Reverend Dr. T. David Phillips and Reverend James Parham officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. prior to services at the church. Memorials may be made to the Community Kitchen, P.O.
