Clyde, Jeannine Arlette Madigan, age 49, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at The Homestead. She was a native of Landstuhl, Germany and was the daughter of Peter and Simone Fortier Cox and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and Jay Cox. She was a US Army veteran and also served in the Army Reserves. She received her Associate Degree from Haywood Community College in 2005 and worked as librarian and computer aid at Clyde Elementary, Pisgah High School, and Haywood Community College. She also was a former employee of Western Carolina University's Grant and Scholarship Office. Although she was stricken with cancer, Jeannine always had an infectious smile and never let her cancer dampen her selfless spirit. She was routinely referred to as the "Ambassador of Hope and Strength." She enjoyed crafts and crocheting and sang in the church choir at Clyde First Baptist of which she was a member. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of eight years, John P. Madigan; two daughters, Simone Cabe and Sara Dodson and her husband, Michael, of Clyde; one son, Andrew Cabe, of Waynesville; two step-daughters, Kaitlyn Madigan and Caroline Ford and her husband, Alex, of Raleigh; a step-son, Patrick Madigan, of Boone; two brothers, James Cox of Casa Grande, Arizona and Kenneth Cox and his wife, Jamie, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; and two grandchildren, Isabella Rose and Nuala Lisbeth. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 1, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Clyde with Reverend Dr. T. David Phillips. A reception will follow immediately after the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 90 Stiles Road, Canton, NC 28716. Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services of Waynesville is in charge of arrangements.
