Clyde- Jeffrey Lee "Jeff" Simmons - age 24 of 498 Thompson Cove Road died Friday, August 12, 2005 from injuries sustained in a boating accident at Lake Douglas, TN. He was a native of Pensacola, FL but had lived in Haywood County since 1984. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Hubert Simmons and Voncile R. King and father-in-law, Peter Walsh. Jeffrey was a 1998 graduate of Pisgah High School and attended Western Carolina University and Haywood Community College. He was a construction supervisor with Palmer Construction of Waynesville. In his youth Jeff attended Canton Wesleyan Church and has remained a man of faith. He was an avid baseball player and golfer. He is survived by his wife of 3 years, Sky Walsh Simmons; parents, Michael L. Simmons of Clyde and Diane Hardy Simmons of Canton; maternal grandparents, Montez and Maloye Ferguson of Cantonment, FL; mother-in-law, Karol Walsh of Cullowhee; two brothers, Kyle Simmons of Clyde and Kevin Simmons of Canton; one sister-in-law, Sally Freeman and her husband Kerry of Rincon, GA; one brother-in-law, Jesse Walsh of Cullowhee; two nieces, Kate and Anna Freeman of Rincon, GA and his extended family, Greg and Diane Palmer and family of Waynesville. Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2005 at Morning Star Cemetery with the Reverend Perry Hines officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. Serving as pallbearers will be Aaron Ingle, Aaron Cassels, Heath Pressley, Hubert Thomas, Greg Palmer, Jason Queen, Scott Turner, Camden Warren, Tyler Palmer and Mike Millares. Any and all who met Jeff loved him, he was good to everyone and good at all he did. We love you Jeffrey. "And ever has it been, the heart knows not its' own depths until the hour of separation."
