Jennifer Mary Griffin

Jennifer Mary Griffin, 78, of Clyde, North Carolina passed away in her sleep on August 4, 2023. She lived her life with grace, strength, and a positive attitude while triumphing over Type 1 diabetes every step of the way. Recently diagnosed with lung cancer and undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments, her heart simply stopped & God called her home.

Jennifer was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, and friend. As a teacher for 35 years, she impacted countless students. Her students fondly called her “Griff.”  She had a giant heart that had room for everyone — lost middle schoolers, lost animals, her own family, and her found family, far and near.

Although she spent her last years in North Carolina living near her sister, most of her adult life was spent living in Bellevue, Nebraska. She taught at Logan Fontenelle Middle School and went home during the summers to Covington, Louisiana to be with her Momma and her family.

She loved her students, family, friends, and her dogs who were her family. She was always up for going on an adventure. She lived by experiencing life whether it was hiking down by the river in Covington with her dog or going to one of her students’ wrestling matches or basketball games to encourage and support them.

Jennifer is survived by her sister Joy (Michael) Robertson, her niece and godchild JT (Chad) Dacus, nieces Ann Marie (Kenny) Danielson and Cheryl Ann (Jackie) Gillespie, nephews Ronnie Griffin and Edward Griffin. A Celebration of Life will be planned in the coming months and details will be given closer to the date.
