Clyde- Jerome Reeves Hipps, age 78, died Friday, August 03, 2007 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a son of the late Jetter and Victoria Suttles Hipps. He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Hipps. Reeves retired in 1994 from Champion International with 43 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nancy Rhinehart Hipps; four sons, Dennis Reeves Hipps and his wife, Sandy, of Canton, Larry Alan Hipps and his wife, Hava, of Carey, NC Steven Kent Hipps and his wife, Jeanne, of Waynesville, and Jeffrey Scott Hipps and his wife, Darlene, of Clyde; three sisters, Ruth Benifield of Florida, Doris Mann and Betty Brookshire both of Canton; six grandchildren, Courtney Hipps Parris and her husband, Chad, of Canton, Lindsey Hipps of Clyde, Wesley Hipps and his wife, Andrea, of Columbia SC, Bradley and Justin Hipps both of Carey, NC and Colby Scott Hipps of Clyde; and two great-grandchildren, Caroline and Chloe Parris of Canton. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2007 at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on the Old Clyde Road with Reverend W.O. "Bill" Henson and Reverend Bruce Cayton officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. Memorials may be made to the Haywood County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1275, Canton, NC 28716.
