Jerome Scott, age 76, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Irvin and Maude Roberts Scott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his four children, Georgia Lee Scott; a son, Jeremy Lee Scott; one brother, Burder Scott; and two sisters, Juanita and Marilyn Worley. Jerome sang tenor with the Happy Travelers Quartet and was a member of Rocky Face Baptist Church. He retired from Stroupe Sheet Metal Works and was a United States Army veteran having served in Korea. He is survived by his wife, Doris M. Scott; three daughters, Lisa Grant, Sheila McDaniel, and Shannon Brown; five step-children; one sister, Jean Cole; three brothers, Reverend Jack Scott, Carroll and Bobby Scott.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Rocky Face Baptist Church with the Reverend Donnie Henson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rocky Face Baptist Church Building Fund, 1635 Worley Cove Road, Canton, NC 28716.
