Waynesville-Jerry Gladys Williams Bell, age 83, died Sunday, July 20, 2003 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
She was the daughter of the late Jesse G. and Winnie Fields Williams. She was a native of Birmingham, Alabama having moved to Batesville, Georgia in 1978 and then to Waynesville in 1999 to be close to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Patterson Bell, who died in 1995.
She attended Minor High School in Birmingham, Alabama and was the former owner of Serendipity Glass Studio in Batesville, Georgia. She was a member of Hazelwood Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and loved animals.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Bell Thompson and her husband, Jimmy of Balsam and Sharon J. Bell of Knoxville, Tennessee; one son, James P. Bell, Jr. and his wife, Maritza Bell-Corrales of Statesboro, Georgia; one sister, Wanda Gloe Williams Krass and her husband, Robert of Redondo Beach, California; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Batesville, Georgia. The Reverend Don Letzring will officiate. The grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
