Jerry graduated with a Masters in Education from Western Carolina University and BA in Theology from Toccoa Falls College. He was also a graduate of Waynesville Township High School. After becoming a Christian, Jerry lived his life guided by his favorite bible verse, Proverbs 3:5 - Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will direct your paths. Jerry's 37-year Christian ministry included serving as Youth and Education Minister at Allens Creek Baptist Church (Waynesville) and Pastor of Crabtree Baptist Church (Clyde), Austin Grove Baptist Church (Marshville, NC), Hazelwood Baptist Church (Waynesville), and Crestview Baptist Church (Canton). He also taught Bible Survey classes at Haywood Community College. After retiring in October 2007, Jerry continued to minister to the Lord as a Sunday School and Bible Study teacher at Hartis Grove Baptist Church in Indian Trail, NC where he was a member. Jerry also had a love for missions and gave freely of his money and time to tell others about the love of Jesus Christ. Jerry will be remembered as a gentle, kind, and loving man who took wonderful care of both his family and his congregations. Rather than sending flowers, his wife and daughter request that his memory be honored through donations to a scholarship established in his name by his daughter and son-in-law at Toccoa Falls College. All donations should be designated for the Jerry Ensley Scholarship and sent to Toccoa Falls College, 107 N. Chapel Drive, Toccoa Falls, GA 30598.
