Jerry Harkins

Canton-Jerry McKinley Harkins-56, of Morning Star Road, went to be with the Lord March 2, 2003.

He was the son of Katherine Pullen Harkins. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Harkins and one brother, Carroll E. Harkins. He worked at Murphy Chevrolet from 1965 until 1970 and was currently employed by Anderson Automotive in Canton with 33 years of service. He was a member of Morning Star United Methodist Church and was a United States Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his daughter, Christie Paxton and her husband Randy of Canton, his son, Todd Harkins and his wife Julie of Conover, NC, a sister Luann Cook and her husband Gary of Canton, one brother, Robert Gene Harkins and his wife Jane of Sharpsburg, GA and 3 grandchildren, Katie Paxton, Barrett and Logan Harkins.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverend Doug Love and Reverend Michael Gehring officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Rudisill, Sam Vance, Mitchell Falin, Ed Thomas, Jerry Caldwell and Cliff Robinson.
