Jerry Sheppard

Waynesville-Jerry Martin Sheppard, age 70 of Sheppard Hill Lane died Thursday, November 22, 2007 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a son of the late Charles L. and Edith Dalton Sheppard. Jerry retired from Champion International in 1996 with 40 years of service and was a member of Ratcliffe Cove Baptist Church. Most beloved husband, father and friend Jerry thoroughly enjoyed camping with his family at Lake Chatuge. In his retirement years, he loved taking painting classes with Penny, golfing, reading and traveling. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Penny Sheppard, one daughter Marleen Marshall and her husband George of Clyde, three sons Martin Sheppard, Stuart Ferguson and his wife Cheryl, all of Clyde and Mark Sheppard and his wife Jackie of Waynesville, one sister Linda Sheppard of Canton, one brother Charles Sheppard and his wife Laverne of Eustis, FL, 7 grandchildren; Dena, Melissa, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Dalton, Hayden, Jessica and 3 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at Wells Funeral Homes of Waynesville with Brother Charles Sheppard and son-in-law George Marshall officiating. At other times, the family will be at Sheppard Hill Lane. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Zion Baptist Church, Vicki's Children's Fund, Attn: Penny Sheppard, 44 Sheppard Hill Lane, Waynesville, NC 28786.
